Using the Prospectus

The Prospectus is meant to give you different ways to track down information about courses and the schools, colleges and work-based learning providers in South Tyneside who offer them. The choices in the menu above provide these different ways of looking for information.

Girl Green TopIf you aren't certain about the best way to look or just want some information to get you thinking, then begin with Start. This part of the website contains background information about such things as options, types of qualifications, levels, EMA, and much more.

Which Job / Choices?

If you already have a good idea about the kind of job you want to do when you finish studying, then have a look at Which Job? It's often helpful to put jobs into categories or families. Knowing about these job families, often called sectors, can help you to work out the type of job you want and the courses and qualifications you might need. This part of the Prospectus describes each job family or sector listed in the menu on the left and links to jobs, courses and learner profiles.
Which Choices offers a similar way to consider options at 14+.

Which Subject

You might find it easier to think about the kind of subjects you want to study. Which Subject groups subjects together, for example, Languages would include any modern foreign language like French, German or Spanish. In this part of the Prospectus, subject groups are described and information about courses, careers and related learner profiles highlighted.

Which Provider

The most important factor choosing a course might be which school, college or work-based learning provider is providing it. Which Provider maps and lists providers and then describes the courses and facilities each offers.

Learner Profiles

If you are struggling to make sense of all of the choices available, you might find the experiences of other people useful. Learner Profiles are written by people like you from your area who have already made choices. Even if you have made up your mind, the Profiles still make good reading.
